Rio de Janeiro Carnival could be scrapped FOREVER due to budget cuts, mayor reveals bringing the greatest party on the planet to an end

RIO de Janeiro’s carnival – a wild five-day celebration considered to be the greatest party on the planet – could soon be a thing of the past.

Organisers are threatening to cancel the spectacular samba parades next year if the festival’s multi-million pound subsidy is slashed in budget saving measures.
